Peak Tuition’s 2017 In Review

2017 has been a very successful and busy year for Peak Tuition. Once again, we’re very pleased to have maintained our 100% pass rate for the 7+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams for independent schools. Alongside our existing boarding students, we’ve also welcomed 8 new boarders into our family, including 2 that successfully gained entry into new boarding schools for us. In other news, we’ve strengthened our ties with companies across the North West – providing consultancy and support to families working for some of the most important businesses in the region.

We’ve seen some very important changes across Cheshire & South Manchester, for our local independent day schools this year. Mr Neil Smith, Academic Deputy Head at The Manchester Grammar School (MGS) will assume his Headship at Cheadle Hulme School next September, great news we think. Terra Nova School also had a recent change in Headship with Mr Philip Stewart taking the helm. Although we’ve yet to meet him personally, we’ve heard some good things from people who knew him prior to arriving at TN School. We’ve also heard some rumours about some big upcoming changes at 2 other schools next year, but we’ll wait to see how they turn out!

During the summer we organised a unique and bespoke experience for the children of one of our Spanish international clients, travelling across the UK on a road trip from Scotland, all the way down to St Ives. The boys engaged in a wide variety of activities, including indoor skydiving, driving Range Rovers, visiting Alton Towers, quad biking, and archery to name just a few. The experience helped them to perfect their conversational listening and speaking skills with native speakers of different dialects and accents. The 2-week trip was consolidated with a further 4 weeks of conversational immersion with a tutor for the remainder of the summer period.

In late November our Education Director, Daniel Coward, stepped back in time and returned to school to fully immerse himself in school life for 2 days. He stepped into the shoes of a new boarding student at Rydal Penrhos School in North Wales and the experience offered a unique and valuable experience that we will share with our clients and the wider community. The article will first be published in Presbury Living & InCheshire Magazine, this January.

To all of our clients, friends, and family. We’d like to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
